Corgishark Gone Boating

My apologies up front, but Indy (well, and us too) has had a really, really busy week, so I’m going to pit up a couple of posts today to get us up to date.

If you are reading this you probably saw the photo of Indy in his new gear to go on Grandpa’s boat. Ben was amazed that even let me put the goggles on him, much less follow me around the kitchen the way he did. Our previous corgi, Miss Shelby, would have put on a major pout, the drama queen. But Indy is way too cool for that.

I don’t know if Indy has ever been on a boat before, but if not, he did exceptionally well for a first timer. He was prepared to hup on the boat by himself, but did acquiesce to being lifted aboard. He met his new grandparents and immediately stole their hearts, but isn’t that what corgis do 🙂 The visit on board could not have been better and he did not show any anxiety until the engines started, but to give him A LOT of credit here, the engines on that big boat are a bit loud. He snuggled into my side on the seat and was calm, just panting (and grandma had a towel ready for that!).

We anchored for lunch and Indy continued to amaze me with his well mannered begging. He stares a hole through you, but none of the pushiness and pawning we had grown accustomed to. He did “hoover all horizontal surfaces when we were done, but that’s to be expected.

After docking Indy pulled me across the docks like he had never pulled me before, but once he hit the grass he peed and was fine. Evidently the good boy really had to go, but didn’t on the boat, or even the dock. He rolled around in the wonderfully soft grass under the shade of a large tree before leading me on an exploration of the marsh’s edge. Exploring done he led me right back down the dock to look for that boat his daddy was still on. All in all, a great first outing on the boat.
